Send bank payments to your contacts

With Onafriq App, you can create real-time payments to bank accounts in Uganda. We support the major banks (Stanbic, Equity Bank, Absa Bank, and Centenary Bank) and are constantly adding more banks to the list.

Send a bank payment to a new contact

  1. From the home page, select ‘Send Money'.

  2. Go to ‘Send to Bank Account’.

  3. Select the ‘New' button to create a new contact.

  4. Enter the recipient's details and the amount you wish to send.

  5. Click 'Send' to initiate payment.

  6. Verify and confirm the payment details by selecting ‘Send’ to process the payment or ‘Cancel’ to cancel the payment.

Send a bank payment to an existing contact

  1. From the home page, select ‘Send Money'.

  2. Go to ‘Send to Bank Account’.

  3. Select the relevant contact.

  4. Verify their details.

  5. Enter the amount, then select ‘Send’.

  6. Verify and confirm the payment details by selecting ‘Send’ to process the payment or ‘Cancel’ to cancel the payment.

Limits on bank payments

Due to the limitations set out by our banking partners, the amount of funds you can send per transaction is restricted.

  • Minimum payment: 5,000 UGX

  • Maximum payment: 20,000,000 UGX

How long does it take for the funds to reflect in the recipients' accounts?

The transactions are processed in real-time and will reflect within 10 minutes.

I sent money, but the beneficiary has not yet received the funds.

Kindly reach out to support with the following transaction details so that we can look into it for you.

  • amount

  • phone number

  • payment ID

  • date and time of the payment

Can I cancel or reserve a payment?

Once the payment goes to the bank, we can't retrieve the funds. We encourage you to carefully review your transaction details before confirming.
